Mental Health Coaching

Sometimes healing doesn’t start in a therapist’s office—it starts with a conversation that calls you higher.

Healthy Masculinity Mental Health Coaching provides culturally grounded guidance for Black men ready to take control of their emotional health, relationships, and purpose.

WHAT IS MH COACH?

A Mental Health Coach helps you bridge the gap between awareness and action. While a therapist focuses on healing your past, a coach helps you build tools for your present and future. Coaching is forward-focused, solution-based, and accountability-driven.

Mental Health in Our Community
(Key Statistics & Context)

Mental health disparities among Black men aren’t rooted in weakness—they’re rooted in the lack of access, awareness, and culturally safe spaces. Healthy Masculinity, Inc. was created to bridge that gap.

-Nearly 7 million Black men in the U.S. experience symptoms of mental illness every year. (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2024)

-Despite this, less than 30% of Black men who need mental health
support ever receive it. (Mental Health America, 2024)

-1 in 5 Black men report feeling they have no one they
can talk to about their emotional struggles.

-Only 4% of mental health professionals in the U.S. identify as Black—creating a significant cultural gap in therapeutic care. (APA, 2023)

-Black men are four times more likely to die by suicide than Black women, with the highest increases seen in men ages 25–34. (CDC, 2024)

-When Black men do seek help, stigma and mistrust remain major barriers—stemming from historical trauma and systemic neglect in the healthcare system.

-Studies show that culturally informed support programs like mental health coaching can significantly increase engagement, self-efficacy, and long-term emotional resilience. (Journal of Black Psychology, 2023)

FAQs

What’s the difference between therapy and coaching? A therapist helps you process trauma and emotional wounds from the past.
A coach helps you apply what you’ve learned to grow into your future.
Think of therapy as healing your hurt, and coaching as strengthening your heart.

Is coaching confidential? Yes. Everything you share in coaching stays between you and your coach, except in cases involving potential harm or legal duty to report. We take your privacy seriously and create a safe, judgment-free zone for growth.

Do you accept insurance? At this time, our sessions are private pay and not covered by insurance. However, many clients choose coaching because it provides faster access, no diagnosis requirements, and a more flexible, holistic approach to personal development.

How often should I meet with my coach? That depends on your goals. Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions for consistency, then transition to monthly check-ins once progress is sustained.

What happens after I register? After completing the registration form, you’ll receive:

-A welcome email

-An intake form and pre-session questionnaire

-Scheduling options for your first session

-Pre-payment instructions to confirm your slot

What should I expect during a session? Each session is a guided conversation — part reflection, part strategy, part accountability. We’ll identify what’s holding you back, unpack emotional triggers, and build tools that help you respond instead of react.

Do you work with men who are also in therapy? Yes! We highly encourage this. Many clients use coaching alongside therapy. Coaching complements clinical treatment by focusing on daily growth, discipline, and life application — helping you turn emotional insight into consistent action.

How is Healthy Masculinity different from other coaching services? We’re not just helping men manage stress — we’re helping them rebuild their stories. Healthy Masculinity, Inc. is built on purpose, and cultural relevance. We bridge the gap between mental health and manhood, creating space for vulnerability, fatherhood, faith, and freedom to coexist.

What if I can’t afford coaching right now? We understand life happens. Our goal is accessibility, not exclusion. We periodically offer sliding-scale options and sponsored sessions through community partnerships and grants. You can join our email list to be notified when new opportunities open.

What if I miss a session or need to reschedule? Life happens — but accountability matters. Sessions must be rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Unpaid or missed sessions without notice will be canceled in alignment with our policy. Each session comes with a ten minute grace period.

Can I refer a friend, son, or partner? Absolutely, we encourage it! We believe healing is contagious. You can refer someone directly through our site or email hm4blackmen@gmail.com to request a referral code for priority scheduling.

Do you offer group coaching or workshops? Indeed we do! Healthy Masculinity, Inc. offers on-site and virtual group coaching for organizations, schools, churches, and community programs seeking to strengthen emotional wellness among men and young adults. These sessions are interactive, discussion-based, and customized to the group’s specific goals — whether addressing workplace stress, fatherhood, conflict management, or personal development. Each experience combines education, reflection, and accountability to help participants grow both individually and collectively. To request group coaching, organizations can contact hm4blackmen@gmail.com for availability, pricing, and customized session planning.

What if I’m a father and struggling to connect with my kids? You’re not alone. We offer fatherhood-focused coaching  to help fathers repair relationships and coparenting support, build emotional intelligence, and leave a legacy of love, not silence.

What does “Healthy Masculinity” mean? It’s not about changing who men are — it’s about healing how we’ve been taught to be. Healthy Masculinity means being strong enough to seek peace, brave enough to be vulnerable, and wise enough to know healing is a form of leadership. In other words, to be the man that the moment demands.

How do I know if coaching is right for me? If you’re tired of repeating cycles, ready to take accountability, and want guidance that feels culturally relevant, practical, and purpose-driven — coaching is for you. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to show up.

What if I’ve never talked to anyone about my emotions before? That’s okay — most of our clients haven’t. Coaching is a safe space where you can talk freely without judgment or labels. We take things at your pace, building trust before tackling deeper topics. You don’t have to know the words to describe how you feel — we’ll find them together.

What does success look like after coaching? Success isn’t perfection — it’s progression. It looks like you showing up differently: with peace instead of pressure, discipline instead of denial, and clarity instead of confusion. Our goal isn’t to fix you — it’s to equip you.
